Mourelo Olive-oil
In Greece from Antiquity the Olive possessed separate place and had been connected with the diet, the health, the religion and the art. Today Greece possesses one from the first places in the production of olive oil; each year produces 30.000 tons of EXCELLENT QUALITY. The 75% of this production is categorised to the qualitative group "VIRGIN". (According to the regulation no. 136/66/EOK Virgin olive oils are the oils received from the olive-crop only with mechanic methods other natural treatments with conditions that do not cause alteration of oil and which have not suffered no other treatment minus the wash, the transfusion, the centrifugation and the filtering.
The olive oil is mix of triglycerides, superior greasy acids, insatiable and impregnate. The Greek olive oil, because of the better conditions contains more of triglycerides, insatiable greasy acids (Oileic) which are liquids and that for are less viscously concerning the olive oils of other countries.
Compared to the seed-oils the olive oil has a lot of advantages for the healthy diet.
The "Mediterranean diet" that uses the olive oil as the main source of greasy substances, has been proved as the healthiest diet which is connected with less cardiac diseases and with longevity of many olive-crop regions of Mediterranean .
It has been proved that the olive oil ( mono-unsaturated oils) increases the good (HDL) and decreases the villain (LDL) cholesterol which considered to be responsible for the cardiac diseases.
The olive oil contains more mono-unsaturated and less multi-unsaturated from the seed-oils. Multi-unsaturated oxidises easily and tang with the time. For that reason the olive oil has bigger stability and it can maintain a long time without alterations. Also contains natural antioxidant substances and thus is strengthened its stability. For the same reason oxejdw'netaj less than the seed-oils at the cooking or frying. The same quantity of olive oil can be used many times for cooking or frying, without important oxidation, as it happens in the seed-oils. The products of oxidation are harmful in the liver, in the heart and in the arteries.
Olive oil contains linseed acid and vitamin E in much better proportion concerning the seed-oils which it gives great biological value.
Olive oil has very good assimilation and various therapeutic actions.
One of the best varieties of olives is the Koroneiki. Its main region of cultivation is Crete . In the island, and not only, the city of Sitia is famous for the big production (more than 80% of rural population deal with the production of olive oil), and for the most excellent quality of oil.
In the city of Sitia are also found our own Olive groves, a team of new producers. This team we named it “MOURELO”. In Crete , Mourelo is characterized the young tree that has just entered in the production. The choice of name became because most of our trees are Mourela and for our visions that have just now begin to take shape. We are a company of new producers where from children, with our parents, we participated in the collection of olives and in the care of olive trees. Later we included itself in a special program of our country for new farmers. Now we have overall 4.000 olive trees and produce 20 tones of olive oil. In our olive groves the pesticides and all kinds of chemical productions are prohibited. We are proud for the quality of our oil which is "Extra virgin olive oil" and in acidity does not exceed ever 1% acidity (or 0.3-0.5 “lines”, the acidity is the basic criterion of qualitative evaluation of olive oil).
We made a lot of efforts in order to produce this quality and now our vision is to trade our own olive oil that we produce and not to pass from intermediaries in order to reach the consumer, expensive and unreachable. We hope to believe in us and be sure that you will have the better olive oil that appears in the market.
We produce and sale only Extra-Virgin Olive Oil and Organic Extra-Virgin Olive Oil with acidity less than 1%.
Every year, our products are available up to exhaustion of the annual olive product.
